Two days after a leopard entered a private school near Varthur, another one was spotted in the same area on Tuesday.
“I have confirmation of one leopard being spotted, but people residing in the area are saying they have spotted two in and around Vibgyor school,” a forest official said.
The big cat was spotted between 9.30 p.m. and 10 p.m. in the area, the official said.
“It is very difficult to carry out operations at night. Officials will launch operations in the morning to trap the wild beast,” he added.
The officials have asked the residents to lock the doors and windows of their homes, he said.
Meanwhile, the school has declared a holiday on Wednesday, the police said.
On February 7, a leopard >entered Vibgyor school and injured three forest department personnel , including a veterinarian, before it was tranquilised after a day-long operation.
Previous incidents
February 17, 2015: A leopard was run over by an unidentified vehicle on NICE Road, near Kanakapura Road turn-off.
August 22, 2014: An adult leopard was caught at Dasanahalli on Magadi Road on the outskirts of the city. For over a month, the leopard was frequently sighted in the area, and had apparently killed five livestock animals and three dogs.
June 2014: A leopard spotted at an apartment complex as well as in the school on Kanakapura Road.
May 2014: Another sighting at an apartment complex close to the Electronics City turn-off of NICE Road.
February 2014: A leopard was trapped near Tavarakere village on the outskirts of the city. Traps were laid after residents had sighted three leopards in the area.
