The Bangalore Polo Season, beginning today to August 25, will feature three tournaments.

The annual Bangalore Polo Season, a much-awaited event hosted by the ASC Centre and College, will begin Sunday and conclude on August 25.

There will be three tournaments during this period. For the first time in the history of the game in the city, a night-time arena game has been slated for August 19.

Playing host this year as well will be the lush green turf at the training area of the ASC Centre and College that has seen the rise to several famous players, Pranav Kapur being the most recent. Mr. Kapur was the junior-most player of the Indian Polo team that participated in the World Cup in 2017.

“Owing to the relentless effort of our veteran horsemen, we will see six or more teams participating this year.

The likely teams are the President’s Body Guard, 61 Cavalry, Armoured Corps, Remount and Veterinary Corps, Artillery, Southern India Polo Players from Chennai, Hyderabad and Madikeri and the local favourites, ASC Team.

The teams will have professional players and army officers,” said Major General N.S. Rajpurohit, Commandant, ASC Centre and College. The city offers weather that is perfect for polo throughout the year.

In the past, the tournament has seen continued support by Bengalureans who show up to watch the games.
