And now, an old con takes the bus

A bus passenger was duped by two women who made away with her bag containing valuables worth Rs. 1 lakh on Sunday.

R.T. Nagar police said Nagenahalli resident Meena was on the Kalasipalya-Sultanpalya route. When the bus was passing Pushpanjali theatre, the women diverted her attention by pointing to a Rs. 10 coin on the floor.

When Ms. Meena bent down to pick up the coin, one of the women offered to hold her bag and within seconds, the two had fled with the bag.

Ms. Meena told the police her bag contained valuables worth Rs. 1 lakh, including gold and Rs. 5,000 in cash. A case has been registered.

Drunk, drowns

An inebriated man who partied near a quarry with two friends drowned in the water in Kudlu Sunday evening. Alam (32), a carpenter, was visiting relatives in Siddarpura, police said.

The trio got into the water to swim. While Alam drowned, his friends Naresh and Devaraj managed to get out but informed the Parappana Agrahara police only Monday morning.
