Ambulance runs over rider

A senior citizen died when he was knocked down by an ambulance carrying a patient near Kannamangalapalya early Monday.

P. Anjanappa (70), a security guard, was on his way home when he was hit by the ambulance that was rushing towards the city from Chickballapur. Anjanappa was rushed to a hospital but it was too late.

Police said the patient in the ambulance was not affected by the accident.

Pedestrian dies

Vaddarapalya resident Basavaraju (45), who was walking on the Hennur–Bagalur main road, died when an SUV knocked him down Sunday night. The labourer was on his way home. The driver fled, leaving the vehicle behind, Banaswadi police said.

Slips from bus

Mallesh (50) was run over when he slipped and fell from a bus he was trying to board in Peenya Sunday night. The Dasarahalli resident is survived by his wife Satyavathi and a daughter who had secured a medical seat. Police said he was travelling to Tumkur to arrange the tuition fee.

Death on the tracks

A labourer was found dead on the railway tracks between Bidadi and Hejjala on Monday. Police suspect Srinivas (25) was trying to cross the track in an inebriated state.
