City Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar on Wednesday said the police would not allow any disruption in the staging of the English play “Ali J”, scheduled to be held at the Ranga Shankara on Friday.

He was responding to a complaint filed by a pro-Hindu organisation seeking cancellation of the play on the grounds that it was “anti-national”.Mr. Auradkar said that he would not allow any disruption or cancellation of the play, adding that he would talk to the organisers and take necessary steps.

The play written by Shekhin Jacob which is being promoted by MM Entertainment, has come in for criticism from pro-Hindu organisations, who are alleging that the play is “anti-national and anti-Hindu and threatens to disturb the social fabric”.

A complaint has been filed at J.P. Nagar in this regard. Meanwhile, a press release issued by the Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi claimed that senior police officials had issued notices to the producer and directors asking them to remove objectionable scenes from the play.
