Health Commissioner Subodh Yadav on Wednesday placed Dr. Murali Krishna, Administrative Medical Officer, General Hospital, Anekal, under suspension with a pending departmental enquiry on charges of dereliction of duties. This follows the recent incident where a father had to ride pillion on a bike with the body of his three-year-old son after the hospital refused to provide him a hearse. MLC V.S. Ugrappa, who is also the chairman of Expert Committee on Prevention of Sexual Violence against Women and Children, had visited the hospital on Monday and recommended the doctor’s suspension.
The boy, Raheem, was knocked down by an unidentified motorist near Karpur Gate in Anekal on Sunday evening. When his father took him to the hospital, the child was declared dead. The doctor had checked the boy’s pulse and informed the father that he was dead. The man took his child’s body out of the hospital but was allegedly denied a hearse to transport him home.
