Kannada actor Nayana Krishna, accused of blackmail and extortion, surrendered before the Central Crime Branch sleuths after being on the run for the last three months.

Nayana turned up at the CCB headquarters in Shoolay Circle on Tuesday. The actor had failed to appear before the police even though the CCB had repeatedly served her notices.

The officials had not been able to track her down even though she had recently appeared in a regional news channel for an interview. The actor has been accused of three cases of blackmail and extortion. While she was granted bail in two of the cases, the police have arrested her in connection with the case in Mico Layout police station limits. Nayana was accused of blackmailing a city-based doctor after videographing him in compromising positions with a woman.

The doctor had lodged a complaint with High Grounds police.

In a similar incident in Wilson Garden police station limits, another complaint had been lodged by a person who claimed he was blackmailed by the actor and her associates in 2011. Nayana had been granted bail in the two cases.

Earlier arrests

The CCB had arrested two employees of a regional news channel, a constable with KG Nagar police station and a gym instructor for their involvement with Nayana and two others, Riya and Meghana, who were arrested recently.

A senior CCB official said Nayana was the kingpin of a ring and hoped that interrogating her would throw more light on the modus operandi of the gang.
