ACP files plaint against prepaid auto counter staff

December 15, 2013 12:22 am | Updated 12:22 am IST - Bangalore:

An Assistant Commissioner of Police with the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Calicut was allegedly manhandled by the staff of the prepaid autorickshaw counter near Yeshwanthpur railway station on Saturday.

Police said that the officer, Janardhan Jharki, had booked an autorickshaw to Kurabarahalli. When he got into the auto however, he demanded that the driver put on the meter. When the driver refused to do so as it was a prepaid auto, the officer got upset and went to the counter, where he argued with the staff.

Police said he tore the sheet and threw it on the counter. The staff allegedly manhandled the officer during the argument, following which Mr. Jharki lodged a complaint with the Yeshwanthpur police against one of the staff members, Krishnappa.

He has been detained by the police for questioning.
