To extend support to parents who are protesting against ‘indiscriminate and exorbitant’ fee hikes by private schools, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the State has set up a round-the-clock helpline (Ph: 080-67331891).

Parents can give a missed call to the helpline number so that callers will be informed about the party’s campaigns and actions to pressurise the State government to take corrective action. The AAP’s Delhi government had launched a helpline for complaints regarding nursery admissions in January 2014. For specific complaints relating to donations, capitation and other non-fee related demands, parents can post their issues on the Facebook page ‘AAP Karnataka – Education Wing’ or write toeducation@aapkarnataka.

org. At a press conference here on Saturday, AAP State co-convener Shivakumar Chengalaraya said private educational institutions had been increasing tuition fee, transportation fee, and other categories, between 10 per cent and 15 per cent, annually. The AAP demanded setting up a regulatory body to regulate private educational institutions.
