Exhibition of film posters representing the century-old journey of Indian cinema organised by the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP-Ministry of Information) at Sulochana Auditorium of Vaartha Bhavan has become a major attraction for those attending sixth the edition of Bangalore International Film Festival (6BIFFes).
InaugurationThose who are attending the screening in Sulochana Auditorium and participating in the panel discussion and other programmes are visiting the exhibition. The exhibition, which was inaugurated on Friday by Secretary, Information, K.R. Niranjan and president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce H.D. Gangaraju, represents the journey of Indian cinema.
100-plus postersThere are over 100-plus posters representing all language films of the country. One can have glimpse of poster of yesteryear’s films such as Sati Savithri (1927), Alam Ara (1931), Achut Kanya (1936), Ananda Math , Chinnamool and Patita to the recent Fashion and Lagaan .
According to N.R. Vishu Kumar, Director, Information Department, the exhibition is a must watch for students of cinema, as it provides the way production of film posters progressed over the years.
