Residents are set to face off with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) after the civic body called for public objections to fell 112 trees on Jayamahal Road.
Residents of Jayamahal are gearing up to form a human chain on Saturday to protest against the order, and have initiated a door-to-door effort, imploring residents to sign a petition to be presented to the BBMP.
“In addition to the petition, a human chain will be formed on Saturday to stall the government’s efforts to cut down the trees,” says Srinivas Alavilli, of Citizens for Bengaluru
A member of the Resident’s Welfare Aassociation (RWA) of Jayamahal Road said, “We hope that the petition and the human chain will effect a change in mindset. We will not stand idly by while the authorities chop down the trees in our neighbourhood.”
