College had allegedly duped them about its affiliation with Bangalore University

Keeping the interests of students in mind, Bangalore University has decided to transfer 51 students who were admitted to Akash International Business Management College, Mallathahalli, to three neighbourhood colleges as the college allegedly duped students about its affiliation with the university.

These students had been cheated as the college management did not have affiliation with Bangalore University to run any course. The college had generated fake hall tickets of the students.

K.N. Ninge Gowda, Registrar (Administration), Bangalore University, said they held a meeting with management of three colleges in the neighbourhood who agreed to admit these students. These colleges include PVP First Grade College, Mallathahalli; NRI Institute, Papareddypalya, and KLE Society Degree College, Nagarabhavi. He said the decision was taken at the Syndicate meeting held on Monday.

He, however, said colleges would only admit students who are eligible and have completed the class 12 exams.

Two police complaints — one by the students and the other by the BU — have also been lodged with the Jnana Bharathi police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) M.N. Anucheth said they had raided three offices of the college and arrested an official and were on the lookout for three others who were absconding.
