A three-and-a-half year old child was sexually assaulted by a non-teaching staff in a play school located in Bellandur.

The parents of the child lodged a police complaint on Friday after which Manjunath V., a school staff was arrested by the police on the same day. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The Marathahalli police said that they were probing into the case.

Veena Ashok, director of the play school, said that Manjunath’s services were terminated on Saturday. “He was working with us for the past eight years and we had done all background verification. We are cooperating with the police and have handed over the CCTV footage to them,” she said. The school has 160 students and 35 teaching and non-teaching staff.
