The Kolar police seized 36 two-wheelers from youth who were caught wheeling and drag racing on National Highway 75, on the outskirts of the town.

All the vehicles belonged to the youths from different parts of Bengaluru, including Whitefield and K.R. Puram, police said. The youths were on a joy ride in connection with Shaban festival in town.

Circle Inspector Shivaprasad, sub inspector Lakshminaraya and traffic sub inspector Farooq Pasha and other police personnel conducted raids around 4 a.m. on Monday.

The riders fled the scene on seeing the police, after abandoning their vehicles on the roadside. The police seized all the 36 vehicles and registered cases under sections 279 of IPC (rash and negligent driving) and sections 177, 184 and 189 of IMV Act (dangerous driving).
