30 per cent rise in 10K run participants

May 12, 2013 12:32 pm | Updated 12:32 pm IST - BANGALORE:

The running culture in Bangalore is well entrenched, if the numbers are to go by. They have been rising each year at the TCS (earlier the Sunfeast) 10K run, recording an impressive 30 per cent increase in participation this year.

At the first Runners Meet organised by Nike, which is partnering the 10K run, the nuances of running was introduced to novices and even veterans, with inputs on preventing injury, right eating and proper footwear for maximising performance.

Arjuna Award winner Reeth Abraham, speaking at the meet, goaded one and all to take to running. “All one needs to run is footwear/shoes.”

The sixth edition of the World 10K run, on May 19, has Bangaloreans looking forward to this annual event — and now even to other destinations — for some competitive running.
