16th Karthik Music Festival to start from Saturday

Lovers of music can have a good week-end as the 16th edition of the Karthik Music festival, a two-day programme featuring Carnatic, Hindustani music, flute with percussion ensemble organised by the Vamshi Academy of Music Trust will begin here on Saturday.

Announcing the details of the programme, Managing Trustee of the Academy and noted Flautist B.K. Ananthram on Tuesday said the inaugural day’s programme features Nagaswara followed by Hindustani sitar by Radhakrishna T. followed by Carnatic music by Chintalapalli K. Ramesh and party, and light music by H.N. Meera and party. The second day’s programme will have carnatic music by Hrishitha Kedage and party, followed by Vocal concert by Pallavi Prasanna Madhyasta and party.

On the occasion, noted senior Carnatic Vocalist P. Ramaa, violinist V. Nalina Mohan, Art patron and social worker M. Shivaraj will be honoured with Annual Vamshi awards for their services in the field of music and arts.

The two-day programme will conclude with Vamshi Laya Vaahini Carnatic music orchestra comprising 16 instrumental artists led by B.K. Ananth Ram.
