Bengaluru: A 14-year-old boy committed suicide in his house in Madanayakanahalli on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday. He left behind a note stating that he was taking the extreme step as his parents were forcing him to focus on academics.
The boy, Vikas Acharya, was a resident of Dasanapura and was in standard 7 of a private school. According to the police, Vikas was not interested in academics. As a result, he was repeatedly reprimanded by his parents and teachers. He had recently told his mother that he was not interested in school, a police officer said.
On Wednesday, he was pulled up by his teachers in class after his classmates pointed out that he had not finished his homework. On returning home, he hung himself.
The Madanayakanahalli police have taken up a case of un-natural death.
