YSRC gears up for polls

April 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

YSR Congress Party is taking the elections to the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation seriously and has started work in earnest from the grass root level.

Three more observers are being appointed by the party to oversee the party planning and campaign for the elections, party observers for GVMC elections Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy and Vijay Sai Reddy told party workers at a meeting of the City unit here on Thursday.

All the Assembly constituency conveners and newly appointed division level presidents and representatives of affiliated organisations were present.

The party is aware that the poor showing in the General Elections was due to poor planning, there would be nothing left to chance in the GVMC elections, they said.

The candidates would be selected after a thorough analysis of the individual, they said cautioning the division level presidents not to take it for granted that they would be given tickets in the GVMC elections.

Party workers should not get complacent and expect the anti-incumbency factor to get them votes.

They have to work hard for the party’s success, the observers told the party workers.

The observers would be visiting every Saturday and Sunday and review the work done in the last week and plan for the week ahead.

The observers would also be interacting with grass root workers directly to get a feedback on the ground realities.

The division presidents were given comprehensive feedback forms to be filled up and submitted to the observers by next week.

The feedback form includes details like performance of candidates from different parties in the last elections and also the prospective contestants of other parties.

The data provided would form the baseline for the analysis and planning for each division.
