YSR Congress workers on Wednesday staged a rasta roko at Jagadamba and Maddilapalem junctions in the city to protest against what they called vindictive attitude against their leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Party leader Zaheer Ahmed, who led the agitation at Jagadamba junction, said that it was a pity that the Congress leaders who could not point out a finger against YSR while he was alive, now resorted to a malicious campaign against his family. “Congress is ruling at the Centre and in the State. If they want, they can initiate action against our leader on their own. Why should they act based on a letter from someone like Sankara Rao?” he asked.
‘Mudslinging'
Both Dr. Zaheer Ahmed and city convenor G.V. Ravi Raju, who led the agitation at Maddilapalem, said that the entire State was behind Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy who won the Kadapa bypoll by a huge margin.
They alleged that both the Congress and the TDP had colluded against YSR Congress in the mudslinging campaign.
