YC leader Arun Kumar succumbs to injuries

Youth Congress leader Kontham Arun Kumar, who met with an accident on July 20, succumbed to injuries on Thursday, while undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital, here.

The death of 24-year-old Arun Kumar shocked party workers, leaders and others. He was president of Youth Congress Visakhapatnam Parliamentary constituency committee and had gone to Srikakulam to canvass for party candidates in the first phase of Panchayat elections. He sustained serious injuries when the car in which he was returning met with an accident in Padmanabham mandal on July 20 midnight. He was rushed to a corporate hospital but did not recover.

Rajya Sabha Member T. Subbarami Reddy called on Arun’s parents and consoled them. Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, city Congress president Behara Bhaskara Rao, several leaders of Youth Congress and NSUI paid respects to Arun Kumar’s body at his house. Visakhapatnam MP and Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry D Purandeswari expressed her condolences to the family. Mr. Subbarami Reddy announced that the film stars cricket match scheduled to be held at the ACA-VDCA stadium here on August 11 would be dedicated to Arun Kumar.
