Women teachers seek grievance cell

January 19, 2018 12:50 am | Updated 12:50 am IST - Visakhapatnam

The AP United Teachers Federation (APUTF) women’s committee at its meeting here on Thursday demanded opening of ‘Women grievance cell’, pertaining to the Education Department, at the Collectorate.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the meeting. UTF Women’s Committee district leaders S. Padma and A. Vijaya Kumari said women teachers were facing harassment from their male colleagues at the schools. They said they were also facing problems from their superiors, who were not sanctioning ‘child care leave’. They added that the victims had brought the issues to their (APUTF) notice but were not in a position to complain to their higher ups.
