Waltair Division received the ‘Overall Efficiency Shield’ for the best all round performance in respect of electrical engineering and personnel and secuirty shields. East Coast Railway General Manager Indra Ghosh presented the award to Divisional Railway Manager Anil Kumar and his team at the Railway Week celebrations held in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

A total of 232 dedicated railway employees and officials of ECoR zone and officers were felicitated with merit certificates and efficiency medals in recognition of their outstanding services for the year 2012-13.

Khurda Road Division bagged the operating, commercial, safety, accounts and civil engineering shields. Sambalpur Division obtained the Best Sports and Raj Bhasha shields. Waltair and Sambalpur Divisions bagged the mechanical and signal & telecommunication engineering shields jointly. The medical shield went to Central Hospital, Mancheswar, while Best Depot shield to carriage repair workshop, Mancheswar and Best Coaching Depot shield went to Visakhapatnam.

Chipurupalle Station bagged the ‘best Small Clean Station’ shield and Cuttack station bagged as the ‘best major Clean Station’ shields. The Survey & Construction shield went to Deputy Chief Engineer/ Construction/I at Visakhapatnam.

Addressing the gathering Mr. Ghosh said that ECoR had achieved the highest ever record loading of 133.40 MT during 2012-13 as against 120.77 MT during 2011-12, registering an increase of 10.46 per cent over the previous year and 3.40 MT more than the target fixed by the Railway Board.

The originating freight earnings increased to Rs.10,541.67 crore as against Rs.8,079.08 crore during the corresponding period, registering an increase of 30.48 per cent and generating total originating earnings of Rs.11,612.34 crore during the year. He said that ECoR was the only major zonal railway which could surpass the loading target in the last fiscal. To meet the growing demand for passenger services during the festive season and also during summer and winter, East Coast Railway has progressively introduced more number of special trains during the peak season. The composition of popular trains was also augmented to provide additional seats/berths.

President of East Coast Railway Womens’ Welfare Organisation (ECoR WWO) Ratna Ghosh participated as guest of honour. Earlier, Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer Subrat Tripathy welcomed the gathering. Susant Kumar Purohit, Dy. General Manager proposed a vote of thanks.
