VUDA earned Rs.9.35 crore by selling 25 residential plots in layouts in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram areas on the first day of open auction on Saturday. The response to the auction conducted at Swarnabharati Indoor Stadium was quite good, a VUDA official said. Plots in Godavari Townships’ joint venture at Narava, Madhurawada government lands and Cyber Valley layouts in Visakhapatnam and Baba Metta and Kanapaka Ayyannapeta at Vizianagaram were allotted in the auction.

Highest bid

The highest price of Rs.20,067 per square yard was received among the plots auctioned in Madhurawada government lands layouts and plots in Narava joint venture layout got Rs. 7,050 and Rs.9,700 for plot in Babametta layout in Vizianagaram. The prices were very reasonable and the applicants felt happy as the cost of plots was within the reach of common and middle class people.

While initiating the process of auction, Vice-Chairman of VUDA N. Yuvaraj said steps were taken to avoid entry of realtors and fake applicants intending to create artificial boom of prices. Introducing online application, cancellation of issue and receiving of applications on the day of auction and mention of particular intending plots for auction and other initiatives helped in avoiding intrusion of unwanted applicants, he added.

Online facility

Entire auction process was conducted transparently with the help of online facility and displaying the proceedings on screen enabling the applicants to witness the auction all through. Indian Overseas Bank VUDA Branch has extended the banking services at the venue. Secretary of VUDA G.C. Kishore Kumar acted as the auction officer. Chief Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao, Chief Accounts Officer D. Vijaya Bharathi and in-charge DFO V. Bhavani Shankar were the assistant auction officers. Estate officer B. Bhavani Das, Executive Engineers M. Balarama Raju, and N.V.S. Prasada Murthy attended.
