VUDA and GVMC have come together to resolve issues related to Master Plan roads on which work has already been taken up.

While VUDA lays the roads, GVMC will handle issues of structural compensation and transferable development rights. With court ruling that due process be followed the course left open is to go for land acquisition or to negotiate. Since GVMC does not have the resources to pay compensation as per the 2013 Land Acquisition Act negotiations would be pursued, it was learnt.

“It has been broadly agreed that roads above 60 feet width will be taken up by VUDA and below by GVMC. Even on more than 60 feet roads if the cost is high it will be taken up on 50:50 basis by VUDA and GVMC so as to complete the work early," says VUDA Vice Chairman P Basanth Kumar.

Cost

The cost for a km of road is expected to between ₹5 crore and ₹6 crore and varies depending upon the width.

Mr. Basanth Kumar and GVMC Commissioner M Hari Narayanan met last week and discussed issues related to the Master Plan roads.

Of the roughly 50 cases where some 20 had no other property but only a house that would be lost VUDA would examine allotting land of 60 square yards each at one place to such persons, he told reporters.

If contractors want to exit that would also be allowed and fresh bids called when the process started again.

Of the roads for Bakkannapalem road alignment changes had been discussed with the Municipal Administration Minister and GVMC officials and negotiations would be carried out with the management of a pharmaceutical company that owns the land.

For Nagarampalem road drawings to-the-scale are readied.

For Kommadi road, TDRs have to be issued and negotiation have to be taken up in relation to two court cases. For other roads, road development plans are ready and if encroachments are removed VUDA will take up work, says the VC.

“As a result of the meeting on the seven roads we now are quite clear on where we stand with regard to each road and what we need to them to carry to their logical conclusion. We also decided tp meet every month on the progress,” he says.
