VUDA Children Club competitions

Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority has announced the schedule for competitions for the forthcoming Children’s Day celebrations being organised every year under the aegis of VUDA Children Club. The competitions will be held from November 8 to 14 at VUDA Children Theatre and Gurajada Kalakshetram.

Students studying up to Class X in any private or government school anywhere and children up to 15 years of age and not going to school may participate.

The schedule starts with the Inter-School Rolling Shield Quiz competitions from 9 a.m. on November 8. Only one team comprising four members will be allowed from each school and participants should bring an authorization letter from the school authorities.

Competition in play-lets is being introduced this year to encourage talent in acting. Duration of the play-let, with a five to 12 member team from each school, will be 15 minutes to 30 minutes. Comedy, mythological, message-oriented, historical and social themes may be chosen. The competition will be held from 4 p.m. on the opening day.

The Classical Group Dance competition will be held on November 9 and Folk Group-Dance on November 10 from 3 p.m in Junior and

Senior groups with one group (five to twelve members) from each school in each category supported by CD or live music.

The Inter-School and Institutional Ballet competitions will be held on November 11 and 12 from 6 p.m. at Gurajada Kalakshetram. Each school or dance training institute is permitted to perform one ballet with at least 10 members in the group.

Drawing competition in sub-junior, junior and senior categories will be held from 9 a.m. at on November 13. Children in sub-junior group may draw a picture of their choice. Topic for the Junior category is “My Planet Earth” and for Seniors “Consequences of nature’s imbalance”. The participants will be provided drawing sheets.

Fancy dress competition in sub-junior, junior and senior groups will be held from 3.30 p.m. on November 14 followed by prize distribution.

Kids up to Class III will come under sub-junior group, Class IV to VI (Juniors) and Class VII to X (Seniors).

The participating schools in quiz, ballet and play-let competitions shall register names with VUDA Media Advisor B. Prabhakara Reddy directly or on 98660 76932 on or before November 8.
