Vizag is hosting the ninth annual conference of the Plastic Surgeons Association of Andhra Pradesh (PSA APCON 2010) on August 14 and 15.
The focus of the conference would be on the latest developments in the areas of reconstructive surgery, cosmetic surgery and burns with experts from different parts of the country , Superintendent of King George Hospital G. Shanta Rao said at a press conference with the faculty of Department of Plastic Surgery and members of the organising committee of PSA APCON here on Wednesday.
Union Minister of State for HRD D. Purandeswari would inaugurate the conference. Among those to participate in the conference is noted surgeon from Varanasi Subodh Kumar Singh, who was a part of the documentary “Smile Pinky” that won an Oscar. He would be delivering the prestigious Dr. K.R.K. Chowdary endowment lecture on August 15. Senior most plastic surgeon in the area S.R. Ranganathan, and other noted plastic surgeons like K. Ramachandran, Manoj Khanna, Uddav Patil, V. Sudhakar Prasad, Mohan Jagade and G.V. Sudhakar would deliver lectures. Principal of AMC G. Bhagya Rao, former Principal of AMC and noted plastic surgeon C.V. Rao and others would participate.
Dr. Shanta Rao noted that KGH's Department of Plastic Surgery was the oldest in the State after the one in Osmania Medical College and is famous for the treatment of burns and complications due to burns.
State grant
This department would get a part of the Rs. 1 crore grant the Government would give from the Arogya Sri fund for creating civil structures, for improving the ambience of the burn ward.
