Over 7,000 titles covering the broad spectrum of human knowledge under one roof is a book-lover’s paradise. Throw in a few extras like some not-so-regular books to the collection and it becomes a must-visit for any bibliophile.

The awaited annual book exhibition of the Visalaandhra Book House which has is now extended up to November 28, has been drawing a fairly large number of children and their parents apart from the book lovers of the port city and the region.

The book festival inaugurated on November 1, has seen some 3,000 visitors. The collection in both Telugu and English has been well received. The youth have been very happy with the range of self help and personality development books, manager of the Book House PA Raju said.

We specially indent and get the Gita Prakashan books for the exhibition and these are not generally available in the book stores, and the response for these volumes is tremendous, he added. Many book lovers visit the exhibition only for such books, he explained. The books on philosophy, Che Guevara, Marx and Engels and other Marxist philosophers also sell well in the exhibition, Mr Raju said. The children who come with their parents can be seen leaving their parents and rushing to the children’s section. The books for children include the young fiction like Enid Blyton and also the science and encyclopaedia collections, the manager said.
