Visakhapatnam gears up for ‘World No Tobacco Day’

With ‘World No Tobacco Day’ being observed on Friday, students, doctors and volunteers in Visakhapatnam are coming together to contribute in their own way to help kick the deadly habit.

As part of the annual campaign and create awareness on ill effects of smoking, consultant facio-maxillary surgeon Y. Siva Nagendra Reddy is organising a walkathon in Srikakulam.

With a similar concept, Queen’s NRI Hospital is organising a walkathon on Beach Road opposite Kali Temple at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Further details can be had on 9966700028.

Denty’s Dental Care is running a three-day campaign till Friday on full mouth rehabilitation to eduate people on dental problems such as gum disease, ulceration, oral cavity and oral cancer on its premises.

Roping in people to carry forward the campaign and to create awareness among youth on the ill effects of tobacco and to promote healthy diet and nutrition, Visakha Hriday-Shan, a voluntary organisation, is gearing up to conduct a health walk on the Beach Road at 6 a.m. on Friday.
