Utkal Divas to be celebrated on April 1

Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj will organise an Odia food festival and a cultural programme on April 1 as part of Utkal Divas celebrations.

April 1 is being celebrated as Utkal Divas to commemorate formation of Odisha in 1936 as a separate province. Commissioner of Central Excise and Customs Anil G. Sakkarwar will be the chief guest. The food festival, to be attended by Ukkunagaram Kendriya Vidyalaya Vice-Principal Preeti Roy, will offer variety of traditional Odia dishes prepared by the members of Samaj on the Jagannath temple complex on Daspalla Hills.

Former Customs Commissioner and Samaj president S.C. Choudhury will inaugurate.

Sri Ramanavami

Mahendra Kala Academy (Usha Patnaik) will present the cultural programme. Samaj secretary S.K. Panigrahi said they would also organise Sri Ramanavami on Saturday. He requested interested people to take part in the celebrations in large numbers.
