A unique programme ‘Sri Annamayya Ashtottara Sata Sankeertana Ganarchana' was organised by Rotary Club of Waltair at VUDA Children's Theatre on Saturday.
Somayajula Indira Bharadwaj and Chaganti Sandhya Sundar, both diploma holders in music from Andhra University and Certificate Holders in Devotional Music Course and Grade ‘B' artistes of Light Music and Devotional Music in All India Radio, presented a continuous rendition of 108 Annamacharya's sankeertanas in a single day starting from 8.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Starting the day with ‘Hari avatarame atandithadu', the duo went on to sing 48 songs in the morning session. The popular ones included ‘Anurenu…', ‘Periginadu…', ‘Kondalalo nelakonna koneti Rayudu vadu…', ‘Kommalala…', ‘Ramachandrudithadu…', ‘Yemani pogadudune…', ‘Muddugare Yashoda…', ‘Vedukondama…', ‘Anni mantramulu…', ‘Vinaro bhagyamu…' and ‘Podaganti…'.
In the afternoon session, they sang a total of 48 songs, including ‘Brahma kadigina padamu…', ‘Suvvi, Suvvi, Suvvalamma…' and in the final session in the evening, they sang a total of 12 songs, including ‘Aadi mulame…', ‘Vacchenu Alamelu Manga…', ‘Anjana tanaya…', ‘Sande Kada…' and ‘Uyyala Oopulu…' among others.
Both the women are students of Parupalli Satyanarayana of Sarada Annamayya Sangeetha Vidyalayam, Visakhapatnam. The programme was conducted under the aegis of TTD, Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad and Vizag District Dharmic Advisory Council.
