Two students die, 1 hurt in road mishap

In a freak road mishap, two students were killed on the spot and one student was critically injured when a mini-lorry ran amock into public at the local new bus station on Wednesday evening. The incident took place at around 4.20 p.m.

According to preliminary report, the traffic police said that a group of students and general passengers were crossing the road to go into the bus station when all of a sudden the mini-lorry rammed into them at a high speed.

The deceased were identified as Hamsa, studying MBA and another student Ajay. Vedhavati, an MBA student was critically injured and was rushed to the General Hospital at Chittoor. Three others who received minor injuries were also taken to the hospital for first aid. The vehicle driver fled the scene. The DSP (traffic) and senior police officials rushed to the hospital.
