P. Statish (9) and P. Tharun Ramesh (12), residents of Naidupalem in Nathavaram Mandal of Visakhapatnam district, drowned in Yeluru canal on Sunday. Both were studying in a private school in Atchutapuram and came home for a holiday to attend a function at Tharun Ramesh’s house.
On Sunday morning the two went to a hotel for breakfast on a bicycle. While returning through a ‘kuccha’ road along the Yeluru canal, they slipped into it while trying to avoid a muddly pool on the road.
According to Circle Inspector of Narsipatnam (rural) Revathi, the kuccha road was slushy and slippery due to the recent rain.
