Tree plantation drive at RCD hospital today

Essar Foundation (CSR arm of Essar group) is organising a tree plantation programme in association with The Hindu to commemorate the World Environment Day as part of its CSR initiative.

The plantation programme will be held on the premises of Rani Chandramani Devi (RCD) Hospital at 9.30 a.m. Police Commissioner J. Purnachandra Rao will inaugurate the programme. K.V. Rao and Usmanullah Khan of AP Pollution Control Board will attend. NCC cadets of Mrs. AVN College, Dr. V.S. Krishna College, Govt. ITI, Kancharapalem, and students of Sri Chaitanya Group of Institutions will participate in the programme.

Essar Steel, as part of its green initiative, has developed a green belt in 52 acres out of 110 acres of its area. There are nearly 55,000 plants in and outside their premises. Essar Steel's Vizag facility uses low sulphure fuel for furnace operations to reduce air pollution and is certified for environment management system ISO 14001, according to a statement issued on Monday.
