Three hurt in cylinder blast

Three persons were injured in a cylinder blast at their residence at Tagarpuvalasa area in the city here on Tuesday.

According to Additional District Fire Officer (ADFO) Ch. Krupavaram, one N. Ram Murthy brought a cylinder from a gas godown and while he was fitting the regulator to the cylinder, gas leaked reportedly due to a faulty pin.

“The leaked gas might have come in contact with the earthen lamp which was lit in their house or the fuel-wood stove which was in use just outside their house,” said Mr. Krupavaram.

The house was damaged due to the impact and Ram Murthy, his son Bhaskara Rao and his son-in-law Venkata Rama Rao were injured, said the ADFO.

Fire engines from Chittivalasa reached the spot and doused the fire. Fire Station Officer of Chittivalasa Sk Madina said “fault in the cylinder pins is generally reported due to bad transportation methods.”

The cylinder was handed over to the gas company for further inquiry.

All the three injured were shifted to KGH and the condition of Bhaskara Rao is said to be serious.

A case was registered. Investigation is on.
