Three girl students of Zilla Parishad High School, Gurla, the mandal headquarters village, got caught in a mire and drowned in river Champavati at Chintalapeta where they went for picnic on the Children’s Day on Thursday afternoon.

According to the police, Sunkara Bhavani (13), Class VIII, Tallapudi Mounika (14) and Pilla Geetha (14), both students of class IX, were playing in an orchard with a ball.
