Frequent cancellation of flights by airline operators at the eleventh hour is turning out to be a headache for passengers who book their tickets weeks or even months ahead of their journey. Some could have connecting flights to an international destination, others might have important meetings or an interview scheduled, pressing official engagements or calling on an ailing relative.
Bipasha, who is working for a Delhi-based NGO, was to arrive in Visakhapatnam by the SpiceJet flight on November 20 and proceed to Koraput in Odisha by road. It was an official assignment and the tour was arranged and the arrangements for the air and road travel were done a month ago.
“On November 19 night, Bipasha had received a message from the airline operator that her flight was cancelled. The airline abruptly cancelled the morning flight service and she was left with no other option to land in Vizag at a convenient time,” says her friend in Vizag, who had even booked a cab to receive her at the airport on the morning of November 20. The arrangements made for the travel to Odisha and hotel bookings had to be cancelled causing inconvenience to the passenger.
