Film lyricist inaugurates second edition of Vizag Fest 2017

Telugu language unites the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, despite bifurcation, film lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja said on Friday.

Inaugurating the second edition of the Vizag Fest 2017 at Andhra University Engineering Grounds that integrated science, technology, culture and entertainment in equal measure, Mr. Ashok Teja expressed his happiness over bringing several aspects related to science, technology and arts under one roof.

The venue was teeming with students, music and dance connoisseurs and bookworms as the stalls set up at the ground catered to all of them. Book lovers have something to pick up at over 100 stalls set up by various stores from various parts of the country.

Students of various schools and colleges have displayed 150 science models at the ground. They explained why they have chosen the project along with its advantages to the visitors. Mrs. A.V.N. Polytechnic College students elaborated their fire alarm model used for both domestic and industrial purpose which can bring down the number of accidents. P. Joshna, a Class IX student of KGBV School, Bheemunipatnam, explained low-voltage electricity generation project using seawater. Writers and members of various literary associations will address the gathering at the ‘Kavi-gayaka sammelanam’ organised by ‘Gurajada Sahitya Vedika’. “We are also organising poetry recitation and story writing contests and the winners will bag cash prizes on the concluding day of the fest scheduled on December 10,” said Cheekati Diwakar, convener of the vedika.

About 500 short film shows, photo and cartoon fairs, presentation of folk art forms will continue till December 10 at the grounds from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

CPI (M) district secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao said that the focus was on promoting the rich cultural heritage of the State. Among others, the inaugural was attended by Principal District Judge of District Legal Services Authority Jyothirmayi, AU Vice-Chancellor G. Nageswara Rao, Registrar Uma Maheswara Rao, festival committee chairman K.V. Ramana, former MLC M.V.S. Sarma and secretary Aja Sarma.
