Teachers should not stoop to waiting in front of politicians’ homes to get transfers, all transfers will be only through web-counselling, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said.
There will be no teacher vacancy and no shortage of infrastructure in schools, the Chief Minister promised addressing teachers and students from across the State at the Teachers’ Day celebrations here on Saturday.
The teachers on their part have to own up their job and do justice to education of children. Children from economically weaker sections attend government schools and education is the only avenue to put them on the path of development, he said and asked the teachers to commit themselves to deliver quality education.
The government plans to increase the number of residential schools to ensure that the children from underprivileged sections of society have access to quality education. Urging the teaching fraternity to adopt technology, he said the government had given tablet computers to all headmasters and in due course it would be given to all teachers and in future the students would be able to access quality course material online.
The government has sent its recommendation to the Centre to modify the Presidential Order to be able to change the Unified Service Rules that has been a major problem area for teachers, he said.The government was aiming at achieving 100 per cent literacy by 2019. He wanted teachers to ensure that all the children of school-going age are in schools. Earlier, the Chief Minister launched the web portal of the HRD Department which would bring all the education related subjects and departments at one place. The teachers seeking transfer can access the portal and look up at options and submit their choices online, Secretary School Education R.P. Sisodia said.
