Chief Vigilance Officer, Dredging Corporation of India Limited, S. Vasudeva Rao, has said that the ratification of United Nations Convention against corruption by India would provide for effective implementation of anti-corruption laws.
Addressing students of Dr. L. Bullayya College in the city at a meeting conducted by the college in association with Dredging Corporation of India on the college premises on Friday morning, he felt the first legally binding international instrument provided for criminalisation of corruption related offences, exchange of information, technical assistance, asset recovery, and monitoring mechanism for effective implementation of anti-corruption laws.
While leveraging of technology contributed to greater transparency, the core issue remained moral standards underpinning governance. The same required consistent focus and pro-active housekeeping, he said.
He said both supply and demand sides of corruption should be tackled simultaneously for long term results in administration.
College Principal I. Parthasarathi, while welcoming the gathering, underlined the need for students to maintain integrity and remain upright throughout their lives.
