Indian refinery sector opened doors to innovative minds, particularly those who were ready to take up the challenge in project execution, project monitoring, project implementing areas, former HPCL director (Refineries) K. Murali said.
Delivering a special lecture on ‘Opportunities in Refinery Sector’ at GITAM University here on Friday, he told the students that there was immense potential in the sector as a large number of petro-chemical complexes were coming up in the near future. Pointing out the importance of sticking to deadlines in project execution, he said that even one day delay is likely to cause losses to the tune of Rs.10 crore. He advised that the young engineers to focus on new approaches for project execution particularly reducing the refinery size and development of smart equipment, among others. Academic research improves the teaching capabilities and improves the university knowledge base, he said and appreciated the GITAM University for establishing R&D wing and Center for Consultancy & Projects Wing to maintain relations with industries.
