Experimentation with different mediums and styles marks the exhibition of the works of students of the first batch of MFA of Andhra University Department of Fine Arts.

As Masters level students, each of the artist was in a position to clearly explain their thoughts and what their works depicted. There was a level of maturity in thought and form visible at the exhibition.

The metal etchings and prints, paintings on different media, Kalamkari adaptation, sculptures using different media, paintings on plexiglass, acrylic sculptures, paintings on canvas, mobiles, among others, drew the attention. Each one of the works was commendable for the effort and idea. There were a number of works based on idioms and proverbs.

Saroja Sancham’s bronze work ‘Antharveekshanam’ won her a national award, she pointed out. She experimented with transparent resin as a medium to express her thoughts on life. Ramana Murthy had on display a number of larger than life works using fibreglass, his favourite medium. Each one of the 35 artists had a different experience to narrate and their narratives were loud and clear in their works.

There are some 25 sculptures, 50 paintings and 30 prints on display by MFA IV semester students Saroja Sancham, Manda Srinivas, Ramesh, Sairam, Radha, Bhanuprakash, Yernender Rao, Sandhya Patnaik, Sridevi, Kameswari, Siva, Uma, Lalita and Sujata and BFA students Janakiram, Devendra and Venkatesh.
