Strive to become change agents, SC youth told

Call given by Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes Cooperative Finance Corporation MD G.S.K.R. Vijay Kumar

It is high time to put an end to the relentless struggle faced by the oppressed sections of society and empower them with abundant knowledge. One does not have to reinvent the wheel for this to happen but a little bit of effort to reach out to the downtrodden would go a long way in making society a better place to live.

These were some of the points highlighted by the Andhra Pradesh State Scheduled Castes Cooperative Finance Corporation Vice-Chairman and Managing Director G.S.K.R. Vijay Kumar at Andhra University Convocation Hall at ‘Yuva Spoorthi Sammelanam’ programme organised by the District SC Service Cooperative Society on Saturday.

Infusing confidence

Infusing confidence among scores of participants, who came from various mandals in the district, he said: “There is a need to consider education as the most powerful weapon to eradicate poverty and lead a life of dignity. Education is the only source that helps the backward classes to break the shackles of social oppression and inequality.”

Mr. Vijay Kumar urged the youth to draw inspiration from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar who remained unaffected by relentless adversities, popularising the three commandments: ‘educate, organise and agitate’. “Identify the core area of interest, develop your skills and become change agents. By tying up with National Skill Development Mission, SC Corporation has been providing a range of training programmes to youths. Very soon, we will be launching an online portal where one can avail government schemes by registering it online,” he said.

Executive Director of District SC Service Cooperative Society Ch. Mahalakshmi, Joint Director of Agriculture Department Satyanarayana, AGM of NABARD Prasad Rao and Lead Bank manager Sharat Babu were part of the programme that included impressive dance performances staged by the students of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society.
