Stone laid for Wagon POH workshop

The foundation stone for the Wagon POH workshop at Vadlapudi here was laid by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu along with rail infra development works, through video link from Vijayawada on Thursday. The Railway Minister and the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for augmentation of the capacity of the Diesel Loco Shed in Visakhapatnam.

Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao and Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, Mukul Saran Mathur and Additional DRM Ajay Arora were present at the foundation stone laying programme in Visakhapatnam.

Speaking on the occasion, the DRM said lot of rail infrastructure development activities were being undertaken by railways and the Wagon POH workshop at Vadlapudi will reduce the wagon turnaround time and will help railways to generate additional revenue. The augmentation of the infrastructure facilities of the largest Diesel Loco Shed in Indian Railways at Visakhapatnam, will enhance the holding capacity of HHP locos to 100. At present the DLS holds a fleet of 285 locomotives and 79HHP locomotives.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said Visakhapatnam being a major hub for freight transport, the Wagon POH workshop would definitely improve the performance as well as revenue and augmentation of infrastructure at DLS would improve the parameters of the performance of Waltair Division.
