Secretary to the Union Ministry of Steel Rakesh Singh on Tuesday commissioned the reheating furnace of the newly built Structural Mill of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
The Structural Mill was constructed at a cost of Rs.1260 crore as part of 6.3 million tonne expansion project. The high speed, two-high compact mill with 17 rolling stands will produce seven lakh structures per annum in the product-mix of medium, light, junior channels/beams, equal and unequal angles, flats, rounds and squares. The Danieli (Italy) & Micco constructed the mill with latest technology.
During his maiden visit to RINL, he was accompanied by MoS Joint Secretary Lokesh Chandra, RINL Chairman-cum-Managing Director P. Madhusudan and other senior officials.
Later, he inspected various production units like Coke Ovens, Blast Furnace-3, Steel Melt Shop-2 and other facilities. He later interacted with the representatives of Steel Executives Association, trade unions, SC&ST association and Women in Public Sector (WIPS).
Mr. Singh visited the Aruondaya Special School run under CSR initiative of RINL and inaugurated a medical camp at Aganampudi Rehabilitation Colony and complimented the efforts made by the management for the well-being of people living in the neighbourhood.
