Urging the government to crack down on the protagonists of separate statehood for Telangana, representatives of all parties reiterated their commitment to a unified State.

Arrest leaders

The government should arrest the leaders who were pushing for the Telangana March scheduled on September 30 and send them to Tihar Jail, State convenor of Samaikyandhra Student JAC A. Kishore Kumar said at an all-party meeting on unified State in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

The separatist movement caused immense harm to the students across the State, he added.

The separatist movement was fuelled by some political forces opposed to the development of Telugus and the State, professor of Economics of Andhra University Prasada Rao said.

The SCs, STs, and backward classes would suffer in a separate State of Telangana if it was formed, Congress SC Cell president Peddada Ramana said.

Expressing solidarity with the movement in support of unified State, Bar Council president Karri Adibabu assured the representatives that the lawyers would back them.

YSR Congress leader Satti Ramakrishna Reddy expressed his support to the unified State and said that they were ready for any sacrifice.

TDP district vice-president A.P.M. Satyanarayana, publicity secretary S. Panduranga Rao, Samaikyandhra Student Dalit JAC convenor A. Rajesh, JAC co-convenors R. Ramakrishna, A. Chiranjeev Rao, and a large number of students participated in themeeting.
