Images of a rural woman watering flowers in the shape of ‘Google’ denoting the beauty of Ooty and the imposing heritage monument of Hampi made by two students of Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan — V. Sai Latha Rani and Y. Sai Greeshma — won this year’s Doodle4Google competition in the categories 2 and 3 respectively.
Every year, Google conducts the nationwide contest in which students from Classes 1 to 10 are invited to design the Google Doodle to celebrate Children’s Day.
This year’s theme was ‘A place in India I wish to visit’, which saw record entries of over one million from more than 1,700 schools across 50 cities.
Twelve Doodles were short-listed and put up for online voting.
Google’s National Jury Political cartoonist Ajit Ninan, Art Director Children’s Publishing at ACK Media Savio Mascarenhas, and Google Doodle team led by Ryan Gerick selected the winners from the 12 finalists.
The overall national winner of the sixth edition of the contest was Pune’s Vaidehi Reddy, a student of Army Public School, who was felicitated at an event in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The winning Doodle titled ‘Natural and Cultural Paradise – Assam’ will go live on the Google (India) homepage on November 14. It reflects the artistic merit, creativity, and expression of the theme.
