Eminent academician and State joint spiritual coordinator of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva organisations D.S.N. Murthy died on Sunday at a private hospital here. He was 74 and is survived by wife, three daughters, and two sons. Cremation will take place on Monday.

Born at Parvathipuram, Prof. Murthy had an illustrious career throughout his life. Highly regarded for his command over English, he was awarded Lord Goschen scholarship for obtaining first rank in Intermediate from MR College, Vizianagaram. After his B.A.(Honours) from Andhra University in 1957 by bagging third rank, he worked as lecturer and principal all over the State.

Later, he was full-time coordinator of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Study Centre here. State president of the seva organisation S.G. Chalam, district president V.R. Nageswara Rao, RINL Director (Projects) and convener of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Ukkunagaram, N.S. Rao, and former MP Bhattam Srirama Murthy mourned his death.
