Mosaic, a literary organisation, will organise a seminar on Sunday on the importance of taking up presentation of legendary writer Gurajada’s works in the visual media. Mosaic secretary Ramateertha said some works of the writer have to be taken up in the visual media like TV, films, and animation for popularising them.
Though his play Kanyasulkam ran for nine hours in its full length, only an abridged version was being staged making a compromise, he said. Similarly two of his stories ‘Samskarata Hrudayam’ and ‘Devullara Mee Peremiti’ can be explored for making in electronic media. ‘Diddubatu’, another story was made into a short film Kamali by Srujan.
Mr. Ramatirtha told reporters here though Rs.5 crore was sanctioned to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the writer by the then Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy only a small part of it was spent and the rest could be utilised to mark the 100th death anniversary of Gurajada.
The seminar on November 30th begins exactly a year ahead of the 100th death anniversary of Gurajada.
Noted journalist Telakapalli Ravi would make the inaugural address at the seminar and Mr. Ramatirtha would speak on the works of Gurajada that came to light recently.
Theatre personalities ‘Kallu’ Chidambaram, S.K. Misro, K. Venkateswara Rao, Bhallamudi Rama Murthy, Chalasani Krishna Prasad, Arunji, Badamgir Sai, Dhavaleswara Rao, and P.R.J. Pantulu would participate.
