Commissioner of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy on Tuesday said they had decided to beef up security and surveillance at the airport.
After a meeting with representatives from the Airports Authority of India, Navy, Customs, Immigration, and CISF at the Police Commissionerate to review preparedness in the wake of twin bomb blasts in Hyderabad, he gave an insight into the heightening of security measures.
He interacted on various issues with the officials and reviewed at length the existing security scenario in and around the airport.
Mr. Reddy stressed the need for keeping an obtrusive watch and vigil on the visitors and sensitisation of the areas leading to airport entrance from the National Highway.
He dwelt on intensifying peripheral bandobust, sufficient illumination in and around the airport, regular mock drills, provision for extra layer for baggage checking, in addition to maintaining strict access control to regulate entry into terminal building and all operational areas.
The CISF officials explained measures being taken for 24-hour security at the airport and securing of related logistics, including exclusive dog squad and bomb disposal squads, to strengthen airport security.
