The rise in prices of essential commodities has hit the common man hard and the Government is going to take steps to curb it, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said. Briefing the media here on Thursday after the maiden Cabinet meeting here, he said that the Government would strengthen the Rythu Bazaars to enable people to get commodities at an affordable price. The Government would also revive the Market Intervention Fund to help control the prices.
The Government had identified seven major temples, including Simhachalam, Annavaram, Dwarka Tirumala, Kanakadurga, Sri Kalahasti and Kanipakam, to provide annadanam to pilgrims. A separate Annadanam fund would be created to enable these temples to serve at least 5000 pilgrims every day and donations would be sought from devotees and philanthropists for the purpose, he said. The annadanam would be on lines of the one in operation on Tirumala, he said.
